Knee Braces for Rear Legs 1

Knee Braces for Dogs

ACL/CCL tears are the most common orthopedic injuries in dogs. A knee brace from My Pet’s Brace™ helps your pet live a happier life and get back to playtime after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury.

Custom dog knee braces are a conservative management solution for dogs with full or partial ACL injuries. Most families are choosing bracing due to the senior age or health condition of their dog or the desire to avoid an invasive and expensive surgery.

Custom Dog Knee Braces

Our custom-made knee braces are the most comfortable and effective braces for ACL/CCL injuries. The process starts with a cast of your dog’s leg, so we can provide the control necessary for the injury and account for every length and contour.

In our experience, soft off-the-shelf or standard-sized braces made with thick fabric do not provide the necessary support for this injury. After all, how would a handful of sizes fit over 200 breeds of dogs?

ACL Support for Two Knees

If your dog injures both knees, both legs can be braced. There is no complicated harness system that connects the two devices.

Studies have shown that up to 60% of dogs that tear one ACL/CCL will injure their other legs. Yikes!

According to our patient-reported outcomes survey in 2020, only 18% of dogs that used a knee brace from us injured the opposite leg. Our dog knee brace for ACL tears supports the injured leg, which reduces the weight your dog off-loads onto their good rear leg.

Uses For Dog Knee Braces

In addition to ACL injuries, knee braces support the following conditions:

Our knee braces are not an effective solution for luxating patellas.

[1] My Pet’s Brace emailed a Knee Brace Follow Up Survey in January 2020 to pet owners whose dog received a knee brace for an ACL/CCL injury between 2015-2018. Out of 687 survey responses, 123 or 17.9% of owners reported their dog sustained an ACL/CCL injury on the opposite leg after receiving a knee brace for an ACL/CCL injury on the initially injured leg.
