How We Can Help
Pet families are looking to you for answers and options. After an injury or condition, they want to know how they can help their dog lead a happy, active life.
Let’s work together to design and build a custom stifle brace, hock brace, carpal brace, elbow brace, or prosthetic device to improve your patient’s quality of life.
Leg braces provide a conservative management solution for ACL/CCL tears and other injuries, aid in pain management and offer post- surgical support.
Most dogs are getting leg braces due to:
- Their age / other health conditions
- Post-surgery restrictions = Crate rest
- Cost of the surgery
- Family prefers conservative management
Contact our Morgantown location by phone or email us to discuss a patient and see if they are a good candidate for a leg brace or prosthetic.
The following are some of the ways in which veterinary professionals use leg braces and prosthetics in their practices:
- Soft Tissue - provide interim or permanent support allowing the patient to achieve strength and endurance goals more quickly.
- 85% of the devices we fabricate are knee braces for ACL/CCL injuries. They are most commonly applied in lieu of surgery.
- Post-Surgical - provide additional support to the affected leg, promoting faster healing and allowing quicker initiation of therapeutic exercise.
- Pain Management - provide support for an injured limb or degenerative joint and can help reduce swelling and fatigue resulting in decreased pain. Bracing is a great adjunct to therapeutic pain-management modalities.
- Immobilization and Protection - provide resistance to flexion or extension by immobilizing the affected joint. An orthopedic brace also provides some degree of protection against impacts.
- Financial Considerations - provide a solution that is often less expensive than surgery and will both benefit the patient and reassure the pet's family that their pet can regain higher activity and function.
